Description of the collection

Ca. 1800 pamphlets produced during and immediately after the First World War, focusing mainly on British involvement in the war. The main subject areas include: the causes of the outbreak of war, the German occupation of Belgium and France, atrocities, the progress of the war (including speeches principally by British statesmen), economic aspects of the war, territorial and ethnic questions, the treatment of prisoners of war, and issues related to peace. The collection includes a number of posters, propaganda, and official correspondence and reports. A number of publications in the collection are represented in several European languages, with the majority being published in Great Britain.
